The Simplest Trick for Switching Up Your Meals

The Egg Sandwich 999 Ways...well not really 999, but you get the point!


In theory, I love consistency. You know who else loves consistency? Your body! But consistency can get boring quickly, especially when it comes to food choices. There are definitely people out there who can eat the same thing day in and day out for YEARS and never blink an eye. And then there is me, who will relentlessly eat one thing for 8 weeks and then get so sick of it that I can never eat it again (looking at you overnight oats). Then I start a new obsession, and repeat that vicious cycle over and over again. In an effort to break that habit, I have vowed to switch up one or two pieces of my beloved consistent meals so that I don't get so sick of them after a few weeks. My love affair with egg sandwiches has been going strong for years now!!


Here is how I do it- switch out one or two items in your meal for something different! Don't be scared to play with different textures, tastes and seasonings!! It does not have to be a huge change either- a small little tweak can make a big difference! Think: switching a plain bagel thin for an everything bagel thin, or, switching from cheddar cheese to pepper jack cheese.

Wow, thats a lot of options... but, if that wasn't enough for you, you could also swap out your sides! I love to do fruit on the side, and I try to keep that pretty seasonal so I am eating the freshest fruit and changing it up each week. Strawberries, peaches, blueberries and citrus are my go to choices.




Another bonus to having a consistent base meal and just tweaking it is it helps to eliminate decision fatigue when it comes to prepping meals. If I know that pretty much everyday I have an egg sandwich, I don't even have to think about it anymore! Obviously there are times when I want something else, and that is totally fine too! The balance is glorious.
